CYCLING

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.

ROUTE 1

This is the cycle route I normally take to my Grandma's house. During the first month, I was in the UK, there were hardly any people in the park, except for the occasional joggers and dog-walkers. Nowadays, there are more people, so I have to be more careful when avoiding people.

My neighbourhood is generally quite quiet, so it is safe to cycle on the roads, except when  I reach the main road - (Kings Heath high street), where the junction before the park is much busier.

Within the park, there are two routes. One is more scenic, (route in the video to the left), and the other is shorter, a straight line from one entrance to the other.

I have my left gear on 3, and my right gear on 4, so I use more strength in my quads and hamstrings.

ROUTE 3

Towards the start of quarantine, I used to go through Cannon Hill Park, which is the longest route from my house to my Grandma's. Cannon Hill is Birmingham's largest park, and it is beautiful, which means during the summer, it is too busy! I stopped going this way as there were too many people, and for the sake of the safety of my Grandma, and my own safety, I wanted to take a quieter route.

However, this route is more strenuous, as the last third of the journey is steeply uphill. The first third, from my house to the entrance of the park is the most fun, as it is completely downhill, for about one kilometre, so I tend to let my wheels roll without pedalling

After exiting the park, there are multiple ways to my Grandma's house, I can re-enter Highbury park, (taking the route from the duck-pond in the video above to her house), or I can cycle along the highstreet. I like going through the park, as it is longer, and I prefer being amongst nature.

My least favourite cycle route is along the main roads, without going through any parks. Although cycling along the road is safer for me in terms of social distancing, parks are one of the things I missed most about the UK, living in Dar, as there were no parks there.

However, this route is the second-longest, as I go around the perimeter of Highbury Park, cycling on the pavement to avoid any cars. It is generally quite quiet, (regarding pedestrians), and it is the least-strenuous route, as it is mainly flat or downhill

I seldom use this route, because I prefer going through the parks, although it is a good alternative when both parks are much busier, or if I want a quicker, more efficient cycle ride.

End of summative: Over the past 2 months being in the UK, I have cycled to my Grandma's every day, as seeing her is the highlight of my day, and cycling positively benefits my mental and physical health, especially during such strange circumstances.
